After over a year of trying to conceive, getting a wrong diagnosis (which is why we needed to see someone else), and seeing a specialist (who gave me a clean bill of health for TTC), Mark & I are expecting!!!!!! We were going to try natural for 2 months before trying IUI, but we successfully became pregnant!
Two glorious, positive Clearblue Easy tests on Memorial Day told us the great news! We are sooo excited! Instead of being sensible and waiting till we are out of the 1st trimester danger, I spilled to almost everyone! I just could not help it. We have been waiting for this for so long. What a great early birthday present! So far so good. Today, I am about 6 weeks along (Baby C is actually 4 weeks along). So, a lot can still happen in the next 6, but I just have a great feeling about this. Daily prayers from us and those around us are working wonders. Mark had a deer-in-headlights reaction at first, even though we were actively trying. From what I am hearing, that reaction is quite normal. He immediately started worrying about our financial situation--which is pretty bad. We are in a heap of debt. A couple of days later, he started getting excited too. I hit up Barnes and Noble and bought the very recommended Pregnancy-Week by Week (Thanks to my Nesties and new dad, Eric for the rec) and also got The Expectant Father for Mark. Oh and I also borrowed Financial Peace Revisited by Dave Ramsey from a friend of mine. So I immediately start reading the Pregnancy book. It was so interesting to hear about all the physical changes that were happening -and are going to. Mark started reading his daddy book. Then he picked up Dave Ramsey and has not put the thing down. In fact, he finished it within a week. For what it is worth, he is reading the baby book in real-time. I had mentioned looking into the Dave Ramsey method for quite some time but his stubborn Italian butt didn't want to hear it as he said "I can figure out our debt solution on my own". Well, I have created a "monster". Mark has always been extremely type A when it comes to tracking our debt. He has this elaborate, cross-referenced, multi-colored, multi-tabbed Excel spreadsheet to track our bills, monthly goals and spending that would require a class to figure out. Well, now that he is a Dave Ramsey believer, he has revamped them. He also has been photocopying all the worksheets in the book. Now, after all this, my butt needs to actually read it. I have only read the parts about the debt snowball. Wow, how life has changed!
