Ultrasound today!!

We had our first ultrasound today. It went perfect!!! We heard that beautiful heartbeat and saw our beautiful baby!!!

In all my excitement, I forgot to get the height, but they said all measurements were great and the chances of any birth defects or Down's were very minimal. I had blood work done that will go with the ultrasound findings. We will get a call in about 2 days. This will give us an idea of the odds of the baby having Down's Syndrome or other issues. The doctor stated it is already a low, low chance. The blood work should confirm that further.

The heartbeat was 163 beats per minute!! The baby also was active and seen doing headstands!!! LOL!! Very active!!

Our wonderful tech stated that we could have an early idea of gender. I was dumbfounded as I have never heard of detecting it this early.

Anyhoo, she told us not to bank on it of course because it is so early and hold onto receipts if we buy baby things (lol), but she thinks it could be a GIRL!!!!!!!!!! We were kind of hoping for this as we are naming a girl after his wonderful, never married, never had kids, sweet, loving 94 year old Aunt Lilly.

Pretty cute considering she is only the size of a lime!

No matter the gender, we are so overjoyed with the wonderful miracle!

2nd OB appointment

Quick overview of appointment 1. We talked with nurse and OB, did a ton of blood work and they ordered a 24 hour urine for me. I have high blood pressure and could develop preeclampsia. I am not to gain any more than 15 pounds for the whole pregnancy as I am already overweight. We are due February 1st 2009.

Yesterday we had appointment 2. All blood work and urine is normal! YAY! No further weight gain! YAY!

Our doctor got out her Doppler to listen for the heartbeat. After about 3 minutes of moving the device around, there was nothing. We were told not to fear as it is hard to find this early (I am 11 weeks) and with my excessive weight.

We have an ultrasound on Tuesday. We HAVE to see the heartbeat.

Dear Peanut:Please show us your happy, healthy self! Show us that beautiful beating heart!

If I can, I will post a picture and share details.

Prayers and vibes are requested please. Thank you.

Life can change-JUST LIKE THAT!

After over a year of trying to conceive, getting a wrong diagnosis (which is why we needed to see someone else), and seeing a specialist (who gave me a clean bill of health for TTC), Mark & I are expecting!!!!!! We were going to try natural for 2 months before trying IUI, but we successfully became pregnant!

Two glorious, positive Clearblue Easy tests on Memorial Day told us the great news! We are sooo excited! Instead of being sensible and waiting till we are out of the 1st trimester danger, I spilled to almost everyone! I just could not help it. We have been waiting for this for so long. What a great early birthday present! So far so good. Today, I am about 6 weeks along (Baby C is actually 4 weeks along). So, a lot can still happen in the next 6, but I just have a great feeling about this. Daily prayers from us and those around us are working wonders. Mark had a deer-in-headlights reaction at first, even though we were actively trying. From what I am hearing, that reaction is quite normal. He immediately started worrying about our financial situation--which is pretty bad. We are in a heap of debt. A couple of days later, he started getting excited too. I hit up Barnes and Noble and bought the very recommended Pregnancy-Week by Week (Thanks to my Nesties and new dad, Eric for the rec) and also got The Expectant Father for Mark. Oh and I also borrowed Financial Peace Revisited by Dave Ramsey from a friend of mine. So I immediately start reading the Pregnancy book. It was so interesting to hear about all the physical changes that were happening -and are going to. Mark started reading his daddy book. Then he picked up Dave Ramsey and has not put the thing down. In fact, he finished it within a week. For what it is worth, he is reading the baby book in real-time. I had mentioned looking into the Dave Ramsey method for quite some time but his stubborn Italian butt didn't want to hear it as he said "I can figure out our debt solution on my own". Well, I have created a "monster". Mark has always been extremely type A when it comes to tracking our debt. He has this elaborate, cross-referenced, multi-colored, multi-tabbed Excel spreadsheet to track our bills, monthly goals and spending that would require a class to figure out. Well, now that he is a Dave Ramsey believer, he has revamped them. He also has been photocopying all the worksheets in the book. Now, after all this, my butt needs to actually read it. I have only read the parts about the debt snowball. Wow, how life has changed!

New Name, New Blog

I hated my unoriginal name to my other blog, so here is my new one.

I came up with this credo many many moons ago. So if anyone else is using it, ya stole it from me!
