What a difference a YEAR makes!

Okay, well it has been over a year by a few short weeks since my last post. And for good reason. Life has indeed changed in a multitude of ways!!

Aidan came just 5 days after my last post.

My fluid WAS low.
My next visit, the doctor in charge when I got my latest sonogram basically said that it is time to get Aidan out.
Mark and I were able to get the weekend to prepare. On Monday, January 5, Mark and I went to one of our favorite restaurants, Yokoso, in the Waterfront and then went to the hospital-per the time they assigned us.
They immediately took the steps to try to induce me.
Monday night - no contraction, no dilation, increased Pitocin.
Tuesday, tickles of a contraction and a half centimeter dilated. Increased Pitocin. Tuesday afternoon and evening. Same. Wednesday morning--yep, the same.
Those entire 2 days, I barely felt a contraction. The biggest one I ever got was maybe a 2 on the scale of one to ten. They decided Wednesday afternoon that we would have a Cesarean section.

I was SOOOO scared.

Of the childbirth? No!! The epidural or spinal? OHHHH Yes. When I went in to get the procedure I was VISIBLY shaking. Little did I know that it was nothing compared to what I dealt with (If I choose to blog about it - let's just say that the spinal-WHEN WORKING-felt like pillows being arranged inside me. Pretty soon after Aidan arrived -it started to wear off. At one point, it felt like furniture was being moved and felt every staple to enclose my C section wound. OMG the pain.)...

On Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 6:39pm, Aidan Daniel Colella was born. He was 6 pounds, 3 ounces. The moment I heard him cry for the first time, was the one of the best moments in my entire life.

Here he is at birth:

After Mark and the nurses got a turn with him, I finally saw him. In complete awe of that beautiful little man. From what I remember hearing was that a nurse said that she had seen many a baby born, but that Aidan was one of the most beautiful she had ever seen in her life. LOVE IT!

They "took him away" to make sure he was okay since being early. He was perfect but was jaundice.

We ended up in the hospital for a week and were released the following Monday.

Life has been SO good ever since!

Here are some updated pics of my dear son, Aidan.
NOTE: I will try to do a blog entry with more pictures throughout his first year. I am trying to catch up for lost time, so I am so sorry for hurrying through it!
